Guidelines for Overseas Visitors If you are from one of the following EEA (European Economic Area) countries, and you are carrying E128 form (short-term posted workers or students and their accompanying dependants) this practice can see you under the NHS:
EEA nationals carrying form E112 (specified medical conditions) are entitled to free NHS GP treatment for that condition
*Any person, whether ordinarily resident or not, requiring treatment that a GP regards as an emergency or immediately necessary shall receive that treatment free of charge, whether registered with a GP or not.
GPs have the choice of accepting patients as temporary residents if they are in the area for more than 24 hours, but less than three months. GPs also have the choice of accepting patients onto their list with patients staying more than three months. In this case, you may qualify for some NHS treatment at the practice; however, this may not cover you for treatment at hospitals.
They may offer to accept non-qualifying patients as private patients, liable to pay fees for treatment. |
