To register with the Health Centre you must live within our catchment area . If you do not live within this area, you cannot be registered with us. The NHS base registration on where you live, not where you work and we do not control the boundaries of the catchment area.

You must register with a doctor in the area in which you spend the majority of the year. As students, spending a minimum of 30 weeks a year in Brighton you need to register locally. If you need to see a doctor when you are back at home, you can see them as a 'Temporary Resident' - this prevents your medical records transferring from one practice to the other.
If you have any concerns about this, please speak to a member of the reception team who can advise you.
You can register in one of 2 ways :
Completing the form online is quicker and easier and is the preferred method for registering with the practice. We receive your online registration immediately and securely. We strongly recommend that you do this on a computer rather than a tablet or smartphone, as you may encounter difficulties which would mean your registration may not be received.

Remember - It can take a minimum of 24 hours for us to process your registration and longer during busy times, such as the start of the University term
IMPORTANT – please read the Summary Care Record document below and decide whether you want to opt in or out. If you are opting out then please complete the opt-out form (below) print off and hand in to reception for it to be processed.

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.
You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.
To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
