Regarding ALL referral services: If you change your address or contact information during the period of time that you are waiting for a referral, be sure to contact OPTUM and/or the hospital directly if you have any contact from them. Also ensure that we have your new address on our system - you can also use our change your contact details form.
This service is also referred to as 'ERS' or previously 'Choose & Book' or 'RMS'
If your doctor has referred you to a specialist for further care you should be contacted by the Referral Management Service within 14 days. Please allow a few days for the referral to be sent to OPTUM by our Secretaries.
If after 14 days you have not been contacted please call 0800 031 6639 or the local number 020 3824 2001 (Opening Hours 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays).
You may hear further from the Referral Management Service or your doctor if a different course of treatment is later considered.
If the Referral Management System has booked an appointment on the patient’s behalf, Information regarding how to change the appointment, if it is unsuitable, will accompany the letter.

If your Doctor has requested any sort of imaging for you, there are 3 places you could ring to chase the appointment up. Keep in mind that 'routine' appointments IE 'non-urgent' can sometimes take up to 6 weeks to be processed by the hospital.
